Living a Vegan Lifestyle

by Sydney King on September 07, 2020
It’s heartwarming and encouraging to see the steady rise in veganism over the decades but particularly over the last 5 years. You only have to take a look at the figures shared by Veganuary to know that change is happening and what has been achieved in the last 5 years is nothing short of PURE AWESOME. If you're not already pledging please do so here.
It's brilliant that we (very nearly) always get a vegan option wherever we go now! Long gone are the days we'd get puzzled looks and even odd snarl of the lip! I recall a meal out in the truly breathtaking city of Barcelona…I was served green salad for my starter, vegetables for my main course and fruit for ‘pudding’. No worries about meeting my fruit/veg counter that day! I remember the sheer excitement I felt seeing a vegan pizza and a vegan pasty in my Local Co-op…bearing in mind we live in a small town.
But being vegan is so much more than about what we eat. It's a lifestyle choice. It's a commitment to contributing the least amount of hurt and suffering to animals and our planet. Not because each of us vegans believe we're on a merciless crusade to save the world and right all wrongs but simply because we know in our heart that this is the right thing to do. For ourselves, for the planet and for the animals.
It always starts with diet. And the rest follows from there. For me, after a big shift in my diet, I changed my clothing and make up to vegan options and the last/hardest was lifestyle items like household cleaning products. I'm hoping we can all share details of the vegan life hacks we've learned along the way. So, with that in mind, I'm not going to be writing uni essays for my Blog Page...
a. I haven't got time and b. I think micro-blogging is better (see a!).
